Basic Terms

An excercise is each individual movement(e.g, a Bench Press or Squat) that you do when you train. Indeed, an excerice is often refered to as a movement. A repetition(which quite often is called as rep) is every individual, distinct, and full cycle of an excercise. Grouping of reps are called sets. Each set is followed by a brief interval of about 60 seconds which allows you to catch your breath and partially recuperate before beginning a new set.

The full sets of excercises, sets and reps that you perform in one training session is called a workout, routine, program, or training schedule.

Nutrition

What you eat and drink makes a great deal in your bodybuilding training.
You have to eat when you are hungry and eat what will be good for your body, not whatever you see in sight which looks sweet. Water is the drink of the champions and you should prefer it to anything else.
Eggs, Milk, Fruits, Seeds, Juices, boiled potatoes are good for you. You should not avoid meat completely but eat meat only when you have to.(Do avoid fat though, its very bad for your body). Avoid sweets in general.

When and Where to Work Out

It makes little difference what time of day you train, as long as you set a regular time to work out and don't miss any training sessions. The best hours though are in the mid-morning, late-afternoon and early evening.
Where you train is upto your availble options. A state-of-the-art gym would be fine but not everyone can go there. You may have no other alternatives but to work out at home(like i do very often) at your garage or basement with only an adjustable barbell and dumbell set and a couple of benches. Just for the record, when i train at home i use a 70pounds barbell and a 20pounds dumbell and two benches. They do the job if you know how to use them.

What to Wear and Breathing Patterns

You should dress according to the climate. If It is warm in the gym you can probably get along fine wearing only shorts and a t-shirt or tank top(men, ofcourse, can train just in shorts if they like). But if its cold, then a running suit will be more likely. Always wear shoes(running shoes being the best in the list) becouse they protect your feet from injury.
There are three schools of thought regarding how to breathe as you perform an excercise.
* You should inhale during the exertion phase of each repetition and exhale during the recovery cycle.
* You should exhale during the exertion phase of each repetition and inhale during the recovery cycle.
* You don't need to concern yourself about when to inhale and exhale becouse you will naturally breathe correctly as you do an excerise.
One thing is clear about breathing during bodybuilding training: You must never hold your breath as you exert.
